30 Minute Fire Doors
On the market are various types of fire doors that all have different features, properties, and specifications. One of these fire door types is called a 30-minute fire door (FD30). As the name suggests, a 30-minute fire door provides 30 minutes of fire resistance should there be an outbreak. In a lot of situations, this amount of time would be sufficient enough for everyone to escape a building, therefore, limiting the number of casualties or damage to a minimum. A fire door of this nature will also protect people from smoke exposure which is in fact just as potent as the fire itself.
There are actually lots of products available that go from 30-minute fire doors up to 240-minute fire doors. Some doors have different finishes and frames so you can somewhat customise the door to suit your requirements. The reason for doing this is because a building for a particular purpose will have different responsibilities compared to others. For example, a school would be different from HMO. Almost all of our 30-minute fire doors have a 44mm Certified core to BS 476 Pt 22:1987 or BS EN 1634-1:2014 as well as intumescent strips in the frame or the door and certified glazing (insulating / noninsulating).
